Ambient-Light-Rejecting Projection Screens See Technical Upgrades, Home Big-Screen Market Grows Rapidly

With the growing popularity of laser TVs and ultra-short-throw home projectors, projection screens, the core medium for image formation, are undergoing a new round of technical upgrades. A variety of new Fresnel ambient-light-rejecting (ALR) screens, floor-rising screens and acoustically transparent perforated screens have been launched, fixing common drawbacks of standard white screens such as washed-out images and poor contrast under bright ambient light.

The new optical screens adopt nano-scale micro-structured coatings to absorb overhead ambient light. They maintain deep black levels and pure colors even when room lights are on, perfectly supporting 4K and HDR high-definition content. Diversified form factors including tensioned motorized screens, automatic floor-rising screens and recessed hidden screens balance cinematic performance and interior aesthetics, fitting minimalist home decoration styles.

Industry statistics show rising demand for home projection screens in China. Buyers now pay more attention to screen material, gain value, color uniformity and viewing angle rather than screen size alone. Industry insiders point out that a projection screen is far more than fabric; it functions as a critical optical component in the whole AV system. Optical matching between the projector and screen directly shapes the final picture quality. Lightweight, smart and color-accurate optical screens will be the main trend in the future.
